Funeral services for Marilyn Schroader, 73, of Hartland, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Shawn Stafford will officiate. Interment will be at Hartland Combined Cemetery South. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com 

Marilyn died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. 

Marilyn Schroader was born on January 23, 1941, the daughter of Arnold and Mertie (Maakestad) Tweeten in Forest City, IA. She grew up and attended school in Forest City. In 1955 Marilyn moved with her family to Hartland when they purchased Mert & Arnold’s Texaco. On November 9, 1957 she was united in marriage to Marlin “Moon” Schroader in Northwood, Iowa.  Once their children were in school Marilyn held various jobs, retiring as the activities director at the New Richland Care Center.  She was a member of Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Synod and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, especially Bunco and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Survivors include her children Lori Herman, Ladonna (Darwyn) Olson and Barry (Mitchelle) Schroader; grandchildren Christopher Herman, Kevin (Dory) Herman, Audra (Kenneth) Pritchard, Erica (Bo) Mortensen, Stacia (Chad) Miller, Randy Schroader, Ashley Schroader, Rachelle Schroader and Addie Schroader; great grandchildren Miles Herman, Norah Herman, Grace, Mayson and Logan Mortensen, Allie and Avery Miller, Tabitha and Ayden Schroader and Mahaley Schroader; brother Arlo (Judy) Tweeten and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Schroader.
