Virginia A. Motl of Blooming Prairie died March 12, 2014 at Prairie Manor Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. Friends may greet the family on Sunday March 16, 2014 at Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 – Austin Road, Owatonna) from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral liturgy on Monday. A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday at 3:45 pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the church cemetery

Virginia was born June 30, 1927 in Aurora Twp. Rural Steele County the daughter of Joseph Sr.and Frances (Skalicky) Balzer. She attended country school and Blooming Prairie High school. She worked at Jostens prior to her marriage to Francis Eugene Motl on June 27, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. Together the couple raised four children. Virginia worked in all aspects of the farm, raising chickens, gardening and worked along with her husband and sons milking. The couple farmed together until 1989, then moved to Blooming Prairie. She enjoyed her retirement and going out for coffee. As a couple, volunteered delivering meals on wheels. She was a member Holy Trinity Church at Litomysl and St. Helena’s Guild, Bixby Westside extension club. Life interests include traveling, collecting stamps and coins, dancing on the weekends, playing cards and enjoyed her family genealogy and spending time with family and friends.

Virgina is survived by her husband of 67 years Eugene; children Larry (Pat) Motl of Ellendale, Dale (Annette) Motl of Blooming Prairie, Michael (Cathy) Motl of Blooming Prairie and Mary (Gary Johnson) Motl of Owatonna; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.; three sisters Martha Meixner of Owatonna, Alice Resler of Owatonna and Bernice Wesely of Hope. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Joeseph Jr. and Lawrence Balzer, sister Julia Hanson and one granddaughter Amanda Motl. Memorials are preferred to St. Isidore’s School.
