Marjorie M. Trandem, 88, of New Richland, Minnesota, formerly of Owatonna died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Country Neighbors in New Richland.

Marjorie Mae (Crabtree) Trandem was born June 27, 1925, in Summit Township, Steele County, Minnesota, to Charles Wesley and Pearl (Hubbell) Crabtree. She attended School District 82 and graduated from Ellendale High School. She also attended Jr College in Webster City, Iowa to earn her teaching certificate.

Because of the shortage of farm workers during WWII, she helped out her brothers with the work on their farms until she met a very special person that came to work there after the war. Other employment that she worked at, above being a Mom and farm worker, were waitress, nurse's aid, diet cook at the Waseca Hospital, Secretary for the United Methodist Church in Owatonna, and sales clerk for Sterling Drug.

Marjorie married Gerald Herbert Trandem (that special person) on October 27, 1946, in Ellendale. The couple farmed until 1972 when they moved to Ellendale to retire. They were both active in the United Methodist churches in Blooming Grove, Ellendale, and Owatonna. Marjorie was a volunteer wherever she lived, driving people to hospitals and clinics, delivering meals to shut-ins, and caring for her elderly neighbors. She was a giving soul that loved to be able to help others.

Marjorie moved to Owatonna in 1993 to be closer to her family as she took care of Gerald in his failing years. She remained in Owatonna until she moved to Andover Minnesota to live in a senior apartment and made great friends there too. Her remaining days were spent in the care of Country Neighbors in New Richland, Minnesota where she passed on the 6 of March, 2014.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Lenore (and Peter) Poole, Susan (and David) Scoles, Kenneth (and Terry) Trandem, Allen (and DeDe) Trandem, and Marsha (and Larry) Karl: 9 Grandchildren and 3 Step Grandchildren: 10 Great Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren.

Marjorie loved to travel, loved farming, loved being in the country, loved helping others, but most of all she loved her family. She loved her Lord too, and is in his hands now.

Visitation will be at Ellendale United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Ellendale United Methodist Church with The Reverend Lisa Dodd officiating.
