Funeral services for Bonnie (Pollei) Kofstad, of Hartland, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Shawn Stafford will officiate. Interment will be in Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4–7 p.m. on Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Bonnie died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 88 years old.

Bonnie was born January 12, 1925 to Henry and Emma (Randall) Pollei. She attended and graduated high school from Mankato.  Following high school, Bonnie was united in marriage to LeRoy Kofstad on May 12, 1946. To this union, five children were born.

Faith was a major part of Bonnie’s life. She was a member of Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also helped with Ladies Aid and was a Circle Officer. Bonnie was also a 4-H key leader.

Bonnie excelled in crafts.  She was a very good seamstress, even making dresses for weddings and proms. She enjoyed cross stitching, cooking, solitaire, card games, bowling, golfing, camping, gardening and traveling. Together, Bonnie and LeRoy vacationed in Arizona every from 1974 through 2007.

Bonnie was a very family oriented person. She loved each and every member of her family, from her husband, to her great-grandchildren. She was always there for people. She made time for everyone, even if it always didn’t fit her schedule. She put others before herself, and would go out of her way to please others. “She was a very gentle, caring, lovely lady that always had that special twinkle in her eye.”

Bonnie is survived by her husband, LeRoy; children, Dennis (Linda) Kofstad of New Richland, Susan (Donald) Pedersen of Albert Lea, David (Lynne) Kofstad of Ellendale, Randy (Linda) Kofstad of Shingle House, PA, and Jayne (Lorne) Lund of Medford, MN; grandchildren, Gary Kofstad, Teri (Dave) Zollar, Laura (Paul) Stene, Lisa (Andy) Jenson, Lyndon (Katrina) Pedersen, Jason Kofstad, Isaac (Martha) Kofstad, Annie (Adam) Morstad, Gabe Kofstad, Emily (Scott) Poeschl, Jeremy (JaNita) Kofstad, Jenny (Josh) Kidd, Alisha (Brad) Bischof, Corbin Lund, and Trenton Lund; 26 great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Harriett Light, of Fargo, ND; brother in-law, John(Pat) Kofstad, of Mantorville, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma; as well as her sisters, Lorraine Pollei, Evelyn (Kevin) Neary, and twin sister, Bettie (Howard) Bennett; as well as a great-grandson, Randy Allan Kidd.

Memorials are preferred to the Hartland Cemetery Upkeep Fund.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the New Richland Care Center as well as Crossroad Community Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Bonnie.
