Funeral services for Orvin A. Morstad, age 92 of Albert Lea and formerly of Hartland will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday November 9, 2013 at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Orvin died on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Society.

Orvin Arnold Morstad was born on September 15, 1921 in Belmond, IA, the son of Ole and Alma (Johnson) Morstad. He grew up and went to school in the Hartland and Freeborn communities. On November 2, 1947 Orvin was united in marriage to Betty Jane Olson in Lemond Township, MN. Orvin was a farmer and a dairy farmer all of his life and also worked as the janitor at Cross of Glory Church for 32 years. He was a member of the Hartland Sportsmen’s Club, the Farmer’s Union, the Creamery Board, the Hartland Township Board, and Cross of Glory. He was active in his church as a council member and a member of the building committee. Orvin enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, and metalwork. He could fix anything and liked helping his neighbors. He was a member and President of the Senior Citizens. Orvin did pet rescue, and enjoyed roller skating, dancing, and building models. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his wife Betty; children Jerry (Jill) Morstad, Alvin (Cindy) Morstad, and Corrine Morstad; grandchildren Heather (Jeff) Thuringer, Tim (Jackie) Morstad, Tony Morstad, Adam (Annie) Morstad, Shawna (Jon) Stussy, Scott Greenwood, and Jodie Greenwood; and many great-grandchildren. Orvin also helped raise his niece Carrie (Bret) Kitner and nephew (Gene (Linda) Pederson.

Orvin was preceded in death by his parents Ole and Alma Morstad, his sisters Arlene Severson and her husbands Sam and John, and Janice Morstad, and brother-in-law Bill (Hazel) Olson.
