Remembering the life of Leone Peterson…
Funeral Services for Leone Peterson, of Otisco, MN, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Otisco. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leone died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She was 85.
Leone was born on January 8, 1928, in Nishnabotny Township, Iowa, the daughter of William and Meta (Schroeder) Hein. Her family moved to the Otisco area when she was a young girl.
Leone married Arthur J. Byrne on August 28, 1946 at the Meriden Lutheran Church.
In 1953 Arthur died as a result of an automobile accident. She married Donald O. Peterson on September 1, 1962 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco. She was a long time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.Leone loved gardening and was very proud of her flower garden. She enjoyed bird watching and loved butterflies. She enjoyed listening and dancing to old- time music. Leone and Don spent many Saturday evenings out dancing to old-time music. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed their trip to Hawaii. She loved baking and will always be remembered for her apple pies, baked bread and cinnamon rolls. Leone was very proud of her family and loved to be with them.
She is survived by children: Judy Thompson of New Richland, Pat (Boyd) Lewer of New Richland, Cindy (Allen) Corcoran or Prior Lake, son-in-law Daniel Motzko of Northfield; Grandchildren: Stacey (John) Konopa of Lakeville, Rhonda (Dave) Lindquist of Prior Lake, Jill (Chad) Citurs of Albert Lea, Alissa (Michael) Bowman of Ellendale, Justin (AmyJo) Lewer of Waseca, Nicholas and Samuel Motzko of Northfield, Jennifer and Jessica Corcoran of Prior Lake; 7 great grandchildren; Krista and Maddie Konopa, Ashley and Sarah Lindquist, Kalli and Rylan Citurs, Evan Bowman; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Leone was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husbands, Arthur J. Byrne and Donald O. Peterson, daughters Connie Byrne and Kimberly Motzko, son-in-law Gary Thompson.
