Dorothy Irene Root passed away peacefully after a long illness at her home in Canutillo, Texas January 11, 2013. Dorothy was born May 19, 1923 in New Richland Minnesota the youngest of six children (brothers Elmer, Richard, and Raymond Rosacker, sisters Elsie Boettger, and Lola Nesdahl) born to Minnie Sarah and Wilhelm Rosacker.
Dorothy was the wife of Howard Glen Root who preceded her in death December 22, 1994. Dorothy was the mother of Jeanette Brown of San Jose, CA, Joann Root of Fairfax, Virginia (deceased March 25, 2007) and James Root of Canutillo, Texas. She is survived by grandchildren Georgette, and Kristine Brown, great grandchildren Jarek, Brandon, Isaac and Sarah Brown, and great-great grandson Andrew Pacheo all of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews.Dorothy and Howard Root farmed in the New Richland area prior to moving to Trinidad, Colorado where Howard was employed by the Colorado and Southern Railroad. They retired to Canutillo, Texas where they trained and raced their horses at the Sunland Park Race track in El Paso, Texas.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial graveside service July 12, 2013, 10 a.m. at St. Peters cemetery in New Richland, Minnesota. A luncheon will follow at the Congregational Church in New Richland, Minnesota. Pastor Rita Root, niece of Dorothy, will officiate at the graveside service.
