Orie A. Jensen, 84, of Owatonna, died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Koda Living Community in Owatonna.

He was born July 12, 1928 in Aurora Township, Minnesota the son of Lawrence and Nora (Anderson) Jensen.  He attended country school District 71. Orie worked all his life at home on the farm in Aurora Township and also helped the area farmers. He married Janet Sorenson Loken on December 14, 1974 at Aurora Lutheran Church. After two years of marriage, Janet passed away on December 27, 1976. Orie continued farming along with his brother, Roger, until retiring in 1997.  

Orie loved his family and enjoyed family get togethers. He loved horses and attending horse shows. He also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, old time music and dancing.

He is survived by his four children, Kevin Loken (and Holli Mabry) of Claremont, Kari (and Jack) Harpel of Ellendale, Kayla (and Brett) Paape of Owatonna, and Angela (and Lee) Shaw of West St. Paul; five grandchildren, Caleb and Cora Harpel, Emily and Katelynn Paape, and Micah Shaw; sister, Darlene (and Clifford) Bartsch of Owatonna; brother, Wyman Jensen of Owatonna; four sisters-in-law, Kathy Jensen, Betty Jensen and Maxine Sorenson all of Owatonna, and Mary Sorenson of Faribault; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet, brother, Roger Jensen, sister, Betty Pichner, and three brothers-in-law, Gene Pichner, Donald Sorenson, and Roger Sorenson.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. and at Aurora Lutheran Church on Friday from 9:30 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Aurora Lutheran Church with The Reverend Jonathan Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Aurora Township. Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
