Emily “Polly” Streitz, age 86 of Waseca, died on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Colony Court Care Suites in Waseca.

Born in Waseca on October 21, 1926, Polly was the daughter of William and Mary (Erwin) Matz. She was baptized November 21, 1926 at the First Congregational Church in Waseca. She attended country school through grade five and later graduated from Waseca High School in 1944.

She worked for R.C. Mishek in the mailing department as well as Bird’s Eye Division of General Foods in Waseca. She married Dean Fleming and they were blessed with four children. They later divorced. She then worked at Sears and the Waseca County Court House. Polly later married Herb Streitz on June 10, 1983. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, bird watching, Bible study, watching sports on television, and time spent with her family. She was a member of Lakeside Country Club for many years, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Sarah Circle Bible Study group, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca where she had been confirmed on October 14, 1945.

Polly is survived by two sons, Stephen (Lee) Fleming of Niceville, FL and Richard (Lynda) Fleming of New Richland; one daughter, Cathy (Craig) Johnson of Waseca; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children, Bill Streitz of Roseburg, OR, Bonnie Streitz of Minneapolis, Bob (Gail) Streitz of Shoreview, and Ben (Julie) Streitz of Fridley; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Matz and his special friend Leona of Waseca, and John (Agnes) Matz of Waseca; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Matz of Waseca; and one brother-in-law, Don Rocek of Rochester; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; one son, Jerry in 1967; her husband Herb in 2008; two sisters, Dorothy and Marian; and two brothers, Vince and Jim.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. John Omans officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  dennisfuneralhomes.com
