The funeral service for David Eddie Swenson of rural New Richland, Minnesota will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at Faith United Methodist Church, Waseca, MN. Reverend Debra Collum will officiate. Interment will be in Vista Covenant Church Cemetery, rural New Richland. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, MN and one hour before the service at the church.
David died suddenly, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his home. He was 74 years old.
David was born December 27, 1936 in Waseca, MN to Eddie and Alfreda (Youngberg) Swenson. He was a New Richland area resident and has resided on the family farm his entire lifetime. David attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from New Richland High School in 1954. David was baptized and confirmed at Vista Covenant Church. He was joined in marriage to Lynne Kelling on April 23, 1960. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waseca where he was very active in the church. He has served in multiple activities, some as an usher, Communion Steward and on the Board of Trustees. David was a farmer and carpenter. He also was an skilled craftsman and enjoyed doing woodworking projects in his shop. David belonged to 4-H and later became a 4-H Leader. He served on the Otisco Town Board and New Richland School Board for 16 years. David enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing cards with his grandchildren. He liked going to the café for his morning breakfast and then returning at 1 p.m. for coffee at the café. Most important to him was his wife Lynne, children and grandchildren.David is survived by his wife Lynne Swenson of rural New Richland; children Mark Swenson and his wife Janet of Siren, Wisconsin; Karen and her husband Terry Nafe of New Richland, Minnesota; grandchildren Daniel, Kristy and her husband Bob, Mackenzie, Jacob, Matt, Sam and Jessica; brother Vernon Swenson and his wife Harriett of Wells, MN; sisters-in-law Faith, Ann, Shirley and her husband Tom; brother-in-law: John and his wife Mary Jane; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Alfreda; and brothers Victor and Milton.
