Remembering the life of Anne A. Casterton…
Funeral Services for Anne A. Casterton, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland, MN. Father Swami will officiate.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Anne died on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at ThorneCrest Retirement Community in Albert Lea. She was 92.
She was born on January 6, 1920, in Twin Lakes, Minnesota the daughter of Jerry and Margaret (Cunningham) Callahan. Anne graduated from Freeborn High School with the class of 1939. She began working for area families and met Roland L. Casterton, whom she married on November 20, 1941. During WWII, while Roland was in the service, she worked as a welder in the ship yards in Spokane, Washington.Following their marriage they had lived in Lerdal, Clarks Grove, Ellendale, Hartland and in her last years Albert Lea. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, New Richland. Anne enjoyed playing cards, baking, sewing and gardening. Her favorite times were those spent cooking and entertaining for family gatherings.
Anne will be greatly missed by her family which include children: Margaret Ann (Kenneth) Welch of Scottsdale, AZ, Lester R. (Anita) Casterton of Clarks Grove, MN, Helen (Steven) Bakken of Hartland, MN, Rosemary (Andy) Von Ruden of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren: Kenneth (Robin) Welch, Jr. of Toronto, Canada, Jonathan Welch of Scottsdale, AZ, Anne Welch of Phoenix, AZ, Andrea (Kane) Malo of Blue Earth, MN, Aaron (Amber) Casterton, Waseca, MN, Nicole (Dan) Kuhns of Waseca, MN, Karen (Brandon) Flatness of Hartland, MN, Amanda Von Ruden and fiancé Erik Bakke of Richfield, MN, and Danielle Von Ruden of New Brighton, MN and fiancé Joe Parks; great grandchildren: Ethan Casterton of Waseca, MN, Danny and Siri Kuhns of Waseca, MN, Cale, Zander, Nora, Tucker and Gage Flatness of Hartland, MN; brother Phil (Betty) Callahan, of Albert Lea and sisters-in-law Doris Callahan and Margaret Hillesheim.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland in 1989, brothers Edward, Robert and Patrick Callahan and sister Mary Ellen O’Leary.
