Funeral services for Andrew Samuel (Sam) Brekke of Ellendale, MN, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Rural Ellendale, MN. Pastor Sandy Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Sam died Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012 at his home in Ellendale of an apparent heart attack. He was 66 years of age.

Sam was born December 19, 1945 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Hanson) Brekke. He graduated from Red Wing High School and received his accounting degree from Faribault Vocational College.

He served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 14, 1973 he was united in marriage to Nancy Truebenbach in Waseca, MN.

Sam had been employed by the Sun Rich Co. in Hope, MN, and retired in 2008. He was an active member of the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church.

Sam enjoyed carpentry, fishing and was an avid sports fan watching the games on TV.

Sam is survived by his wife Nancy of Ellendale, MN, son Tim and his wife Becky Brekke of Cyprus, CA, sister Janet (Ronald) Thompson of Ellendale, MN, sisters in law; Beverly (Bruce) Barrett of Litchfield, MN, Darlene (Ralph) Davis of Fountain, CO, Karen (Jeff) Koehler of Belgrade, MN, Mary (Steve) Rahman of Farmington, MN, Donna (Steve) Bondeli of Eau Claire, WI, Bonnie Truebenbach of Waseca, MN, Julie Truebenbach of Shakopee, MN. Also surviving is his mother in law; Laura Truebenbach of New Richland, MN, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Walter Brekke Jr, and brothers in law; Paul and Jim Truebenbach.
