As voters prepare for one of the most historic Presidential elections in the nation’s history, there are also a number of local offices to consider.
For the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva School Board, six people have filed for three open seats: Jessica Duffner, Karen Flatness, Rich Mueller, Robert “Kim” Olson, Neil Schlaak and Dan Schmidt. Incumbents not filing for reelection were Michele Moxon, Mike Moen and Lori Routh.
Three seats are open on the New Richland City Council. Filing for four-year council terms were incumbent Sarah Sundve and Chad Neitzel. Incumbent Sandra Neumann filed for a two-year term. Incumbent councilman John Hullopter is not seeking re-election. No one filed for mayor of New Richland.
There will be a two-way race for mayor of Ellendale, with Russ Goette challenging incumbent Mark Skroch.
Three people are running for two open council seats in Ellendale: incumbent Duane Goebel, former mayor Steve Engel and former city councilman Dick Lassahn.
In Hartland, three candidates are running for mayor: Debra Flatness, Nathan Baseman and Zachary Jacobson. Running for two open city council seats are incumbent Linda Pederson, Nancy Toot and Gordon Jensen.
There’s also a two-man race for mayor of Geneva between incumbent Steve Bailey and challenger Tim Gassmann. Four candidates are running for two open council seats in Geneva, incumbents Taff Worrell and Jannell Tufte and challengers Susan Phillips and Christopher George.
In Clarks Grove, incumbent Bruce Hansen is running unopposed for mayor and incumbents Carolyn Weller and Dick Nelson are running unopposed for city council.
In Waldorf, incumbent mayor Bruce Urbatch is seeking
re-election, challenged by Alain Jordan Graham. Running for four-year city council terms are incumbent Kevin Lines, Dave Bottin and Howard Cordes. Incumbents Jim Majeski and Gary Burmeister did not file. Paul Alvin Arndt and Missy Sorbo will compete in a special election for a two-year term.
There will be a race for the District 1 Waseca County Commissioner seat between longtime incumbent Jim Peterson and area farmer Doug Christopherson.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
