The New Richland City Council’s first meeting of the year was held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 11, with councilperson Amy Ihrke absent.

Scott Eads presented the police report; the department responded to 77 calls for service and had 68 additional contacts/activities in December. Two felonies were reported, both still under investigation pending reports from outside entities.

For the year 2015, the NRPD responded to 1082 calls for service, which is down slightly from 2014, according to Eads.

It was also mentioned that the squad car’s battery was replaced, and a new mobile computer was purchased due to outdated technology in the previous squad car computer. The police report was approved.

The fire department report was next, stating that the NRFD responded to 48 calls in 2015: eight fires, 30 rescue/ambulance assistance, two hazardous material, and eight false alarms. The report was approved.

Monica Schutrop presented the ambulance report; with 11 runs in December, the total for 2015 was 185. So far there have been seven runs in January.

The ambulance report was approved.

Recycling options were again discussed, and it was agreed that further information, prices, etc. will need to be obtained before a decision is made.
