Once upon a time, we kept our porch lights on. We opened the door even if we didn’t know who rang the bell. And we could always leave the back door unlocked during the day.
National Night Out is an annual community‐building campaign that promotes police‐community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.
Together, we are making that happen. It enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits. The City of Ellendale will host their first National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the City Park. The city will be providing 1919 Root Beer floats for attendees. Attendees will be able to meet members from the Steele County Sheriff’s office, our local fire and EMT department representatives, as well as the mayor and city council members and city staff. Feel free to bring a picnic or purchase a hot dog.
This event is free and open to all residents in Ellendale, rural and city folks!
