NR man arrested for criminal sexual contact
On September 16th, 2014, a criminal complaint was filed with the Waseca County Court Administrator’s office charging local resident, Joseph Gordon Ranniger, with numerous counts of felony Criminal Sexual Conduct involving alleged criminal sexual contact and penetration between Mr. Ranniger and a juvenile female, occurring within the City of Waseca, County of Waseca and City of New Richland from approximately 2001-2010. An arrest warrant was requested and issued based on this complaint.
The investigation was conducted by the New Richland Police Department with assistance provided by investigators from the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, the Waseca Police Department and the Albert Lea Police Department.
On September 18, 2014, at approximately 4 p.m., Mr. Ranniger was taken into custody in another county by a deputy from the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office and was transported to the Waseca County Jail.

NR Library to have new hours as of October 1The New Richland Public Library will have new hours as on October 1. The library switching Wednesday to mornings to accommodate a children's story hour. Thursdays will go back to afternoons.
New hours as of October 1:
• Monday 12:30-6 p.m.
• Wednesday 9-2:30
• Thursday 12:30-6 p.m.
• Saturday 9-12:30 p.m.
Children's Story Time starting October 1: will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The New Richland 3rd Annual Fantastic Fall Craft and Vendor Show will be at NRHEG High School in the south gym on Saturday, October 4 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be a wide variety of 60+ crafters and home-based businesses to see. Women’s Bible Study to meet at NR Library starting Sept. 29
Join us for a six-week study, “The Family of Jesus” by Karen Kingsbury, on Monday afternoons from 4:30-6 p.m. beginning September 29. =We will meet at the public library in New Richland. The Family of Jesus offers a fictional view of six of the family members of Jesus, all anchored in Scriptural truth, creating a life-changing and unprecedented emotional connection to the Bible. The characters in these short stories were among those closest to Jesus: Mary, Joseph, James (brother of Jesus), John the Baptist, Zechariah, and Elizabeth. Each has a compelling tale to tell. Blazing 5/10K set for Oct. 4
ALBERT LEA, Minn. – Fountain Centers, a Mayo Clinic Health System program for substance abuse and addiction, and the Albert Lea Family Y will be hosting the Blazing 5/10K Saturday, Oct. 4 as a fundraiser for Fountain Centers’ recreational programming and the Y’s Youth Fund Drive. Both runs will start at 9 a.m. at the Blazing Star Trail, 128 S. Garfield Ave., Albert Lea.
