A blue-eyed, handsome young boy who loved and lived life to the fullest, Markus Misgen’s life was cut short in his 12th year. Marcus died Thursday, July 11 at the Owatonna hospital. Although he had previous medical issues, the cause of death is not known.

Though his sudden death was a shock, filled with unbelievable sadness to those in the community, he will be remembered for his many interests and activities.

As a BMX rider he had earned the title of state champion in 2008. He recently played the lead role in "Aladdin" in his school play. He loved to watch and play baseball and his fellow teammates will be honoring him by dedicating a tournament in his honor, dressed in like uniforms expressing their love for this young lad. Markus would have been playing second base in the Quad Cities baseball tournament this weekend.

To be a 7th grader and to become a member of the school baseball team was a strong desire of his. He greatly enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. Markus also enjoyed music and played drums in the school band, as well as played guitar. He loved to swim and fish and hoped one day to be a lifeguard. He was an uncommonly great brother to his siblings, Payton, Makota, Sierra, Brittni, and especially to his 10-month-old brother, Preston, whom he adored.

He liked mashed potatoes and hamburger gravy, and had a unique liking for Oreo cookies in Root Beer floats. His pictures display a happy, smiling young man and he will be missed more than anyone can know by his parents, Sara and Mark Misgen, his siblings, his grandparents, Connie and Scott Evenson and Gary and Judy Degan, all of Ellendale, as well as great grandparents Vera Bowman and Francis Misgen. He also had many cousins and aunts and uncles who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandpa Mike Misgen.

A lifetime is measured by love, not years.

Markus will be loved dearly forever by all who knew him.
