Free youth golf outing Thursday in Owatonna
The Open Arms Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention program is sponsoring a free golf outing for teens Thursday, June 27, beginning at 4 p.m. at Havana Hills Golf Course in Owatonna. The organizers are also planning a bonfire for Thursday night, starting at 10. The youth participating will need to find their own rides to and from the event. Kitten Adoption Event set for Saturday
The Steele County Humane Society will hold a Special Kitten Adoption Event Saturday, June 29 from 9-12 at Farmers Feed and Pet Supply (616 N. Cedar Ave., Owatonna). This event will be held due to the wonderful selection of kittens available for adoption and to make room for kittens waiting for foster home care.
NR-H class of 1978 reunion set for July 13
The 35-year class reunion for the New Richland-Hartland graduating class of 1978 will be held Saturday, July 13. It will start at 4 p.m. before the parade starts and will be held at the Kris (Meyer) and Loren Schlaak home, 218 Division St. W., New Richland MN. There is no cost, but please BYOB, lawn chairs, and memories. Prior classmates are also welcome.
Free spay/neuter clinic July 13
On Saturday, July 13, the Steele County Humane Society, in conjunction with Kindest Cut, will be offering low cost spay/neuter services for companion animals and free roaming, community outdoor cats (feral cats). Spinners sought for world record attempt
FCA of Waseca is attempting to break a world record at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Waseca County Fair. The goal is to break the record for most people spinning a basketball on their finger at the same time — 105-plus people. If you can spin for more than 10 seconds, you qualify. Community Education trip to Chanhassen August 10
NRHEG Community Education is sponsoring a trip to Chanhassen to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Saturday, August 10. This highly upbeat musical is based upon the familiar Bible story of Joseph found in Genesis Chapter 39. It is an enjoyable, secularized, modern-telling of the story suitable for all ages. A delicious meal is included in the cost. We will leave the Ellendale School at 9:20 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. The cost is $70 if registered by July 10, $80 after that date if seats are still available. Farmamerica to again host farm camp
Farmers, farm organizations, local agribusinesses and volunteers have joined together to organize and host the second annual “Farm Camp Minnesota” for youth. This event is open to youth entering grades 3-6. This one-day camp will be held twice, Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Farmamerica in Waseca. Cost is $10 per camper. Lunch and snacks are provided, and every camper will receive a T-shirt and fun bag. Space is limited. Registration will close July 31 or when full. Room remains on bus for trip to Twins game
There’s still room on the bus for Central Freeborn Lutheran Church’s 20th Annual Lutheran Night at the Twins set for Monday, August 12. Coach bus leaves at 4 p.m. from Slumberland in Albert Lea. Seats are in Section 315, behind home plate. One person per bus will be selected to go on the field to lead in singing the National Anthem.
