The 2nd Annual Geneva Cancer Run is ready to roll this Saturday, June 8, starting at Geneva Bar & Grill. It promises to be another fun-filled event, fighting cancer. This is not to be confused with the Matt Felt-Dillon Gordon Run, which will take place July 13.

Riders came from many different areas last year and it is hoped many more will turn out again this year. A total of 87 bikes made the trip last year and even more enjoyed the evening entertainment.

The "riders," be they on motorcycle, or in cars, trucks or vans, are asked to gather at Geneva Bar & Grill starting at 10 a.m. A $10 donation to cancer will be accepted for the 2013 Cancer Run.

This year’s ride will begin at 11 and will take the riders south to Iowa. It’s bound to be a scenic flight. It is thought that most of the riders will be back in Geneva around 4:30 or 5.

Geneva Cancer Run T-Shirts, regular or spaghetti strap, have been designed again this year with the Harley Davidson emblem on the front.

The Geneva Bar & Grill parking lot will be fenced, "tented" and will feature three bands: Rush Hour, 3 Lane and Bad Monkey, starting at 5:30. Sloppy Joes and chips will be served for a free-will offering with a suggested price of $5. If you are not able to ride but would still like to attend the evening entertainment, you may do so for a cost of $10.

Participants are welcome to camp out overnight in Geneva City Park.

Door prizes will be drawn for those participating in the run once everyone has returned to Geneva.  People and businesses also donate items for the fundraiser, which this year will include both silent and regular auction items. Money raised from the many events will be donated to the Geneva Cancer Auction Fund.
