Community Education class rescheduled
The Facebook class offered by NRHEG Community Education has been rescheduled for Monday, March 25 starting at 6:30 in the NR Computer Room. If you are interested in signing up for the class, contact Marilyn Dobberstein at 417-2667.
WARE to meet Monday
The Waseca Area Retired Educators (WARE) will meet on Monday, March 11, at 9:30 a.m. at Realife Cooperative in Waseca. Since there is a feel of spring in the air, the get-together will be more festive than usual. Free coffee and rolls will be provided for all persons who have paid their WARE dues. If dues have not been paid, educators may pay at the meeting and still qualify for the free coffee and roll. Legislative information will be provided concerning the pension plan. All area retired administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals are invited to attend.
SCHS World War II roundtable date changed
The World War II Roundtable discussion previously set for Thursday, February 28 at the History Center located at 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna, has been postponed until Thursday, March 14. The public is invited to attend Mike Eckers book signing for his new book title: Colors in the Earth from 6:30 till 8 pm that evening. Our apologies for any inconvenience. March 10 Willows Brunch to benefit NR Area Food Shelf
The Willows will hold a Sunday Brunch on , March 10. The brunch will begin at 10 a.m. and go on until 2 p.m. $2 of every buffet purchased will be donated to the New Richland Area Food Shelf. Additional support is from MN Food Share and The Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation Campaigns.
Legion Auxiliary to meet March 14
The New Richland American Legion Post 75 Auxiliary will meet Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at New Richland City Hall.
Medical scholarships available
Naeve Hospital Auxiliary will award three $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Mayo Clinic Health System Albert Lea service area that have selected the medical field as their chosen vocation.
All scholarships are provided on the basis of academic ability, leadership, commitment and character. Complete scholarship information and applications are available from counselors in area high schools or at the medical center. Applications must be returned to Kathy Leidal, Public Affairs, Mayo Clinic Health System, 404 W. Fountain St., Albert Lea, MN 56007 by March 13, 2013.
Applications will be reviewed by the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee. Those receiving scholarships will be notified in late April.
NR’s Daffodil Days set for March 14, 15
On Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, the State Bank of New Richland will host this year’s Daffodil Days. Prices include: daffodils, bunch of 10 blossoms, $10; Boyd’s Bear with bunch of daffodils, $25; daffodil dainty potted bulb plant, $15; bud vase with bunch of daffodils, $15. If you wish to place an order, call one of the volunteers or stop in at the State Bank of New Richland during Daffodil Days. All orders can be picked up at the State Bank during this time as well. Ellendale Food Shelf fundraiser March 16
On Saturday, March 16, the Ellendale Area Food Shelf will host a dinner, raffle and bingo night. The event will start at 5 p.m. at the Ellendale Community Building. Bingo will start at 5:30 p.m. We will be raffling pork bundles that will include chops, roasts, sausage and half hams. Raffle tickets are $5/ticket and may be purchased in advance or the night of the event. Bingo prizes will include half hams, gift certificates to area businesses and much more! NRHEG Kindergarten Orientation March 25
Kindergarten Orientation for all parents with students entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2013 will be held at NRHEG Elementary School in Ellendale Monday, March 25 at 4:45 p.m. The orientation will take place in the school cafeteria. Community Education trip May 9
