The last New Richland City Council meeting of January commenced at 6:30 p.m. on Monday the 28th. All members were present with the exception of Amy Ihrke. The agenda was read, and the consent agenda items were approved.
Then Brad Field stepped up to give the People’s Service Report, which was approved.
Gail Schmidt was present, representing the New Richland Care Center. Her first request was changing the title of the current Administrative Assistant to Business Office Manager, which was approved. The Care Center Board had approved the hiring of an architect for the building of the walk-in cooler, and requested the council’s permission to go along with the hiring. This request was approved after some discussion among the council members. The Care Center report was then approved.
Jennie Johnson, representing the ambulance service, then stepped forward with the ambulance report. She informed the council that charges have been down from last year and they’re below budget. Two First Responders completed class, two RNs became EMTs, and four First Responders went through a refresher course, which had to be approved because of the fact that it’s paid for by the money in the budget. The council approved this; some further discussion ensued, but nothing was approved or denied officially. The ambulance’s request for a one-night stay in a motel, to be paid by the budget, during a two-day training class in Brooklyn Park, was denied. After almost 40 minutes, the ambulance report was approved.
The council then briefly discussed a city curfew, but no final decisions were made, and it was agreed that it will be further discussed at the next meeting.
Before closing the meeting, the council decided that on Monday, February 18, at 6:30 p.m. there will be an open garbage removal meeting. After about an hour and a half, the meeting was called to a close.
