Band fund-raiser currently underway
The NRHEG Band Boosters are holding their annual fall food sale, with items like pie, soup, pizza, cookie dough, cheese cake, and more.
You can order from any 8-12 grade band member until October 22. Delivery will be November 5.
Girl Scouts Centennial Day set for Oct. 13
On October 13, Girl Scouts in New Richland will celebrate their final Girl Scout Centennial event by working together to improve the local watershed. Taking place in all 49 counties of the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys Council, the Centennial Day of Service: 2012 Take Action Project is designed to remove 20,000 pounds of phosphorus, prevent 10 million pounds of algae growth and save $6 million in clean-up costs through a one-day effort.
Twenty girls in New Richland will spend the day raking leaves and grass from storm drain surfaces and public areas, distributing door hangers in neighborhoods to raise awareness, and marking storm drains with an “Only Rain Down the Storm Drain” message.In New Richland, girls will gather at New Richland City Park starting at 9:A.M. We will be breaking into groups and will assign duties. At noon we will be celebrating with a potluck dinner at the park.
FarmAmerica presents Haunted Corn Maze
The Haunted Corn Maze and Feed Mill will be at Farmamerica near Waseca on October 12, 13, 19 & 20, from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Visitors will take a trolley ride from Farmamerica’s parking lot to the haunted areas. Admission is $8 per person. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly. Flashlights and maps of the maze are available at the site, as are hot drinks and refreshments. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult and it might be too scary for the little ones.
WCCO television says “If you are up for a fright, this is one maze you don’t want to miss.” After finding your way out of the Haunted Corn Maze, go through the Haunted Feed Mill if you are brave enough. Beware of the bats, ghosts, witches and things that go bump in the night. It is truly frightening! KEEZ radio will be broadcasting live from the Haunted Corn Maze and Mill on Friday night, October 12 from 6.30 – 8.30. Be sure to come along and say “Hi” to the DJs.

Volunteers sought for Veterans Memorial
The Waseca County Commissioners have approved a construction site for a Waseca County Veterans Memorial on courthouse property. Community volunteers are needed from the entire county to make this project a reality.
If you are interested in honoring our county veterans, please join us at our next meeting Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the East Annex meeting room, 300 North State St. Waseca. There will be no government money going into the project; it’s all being paid for through donations.
