QCBA to host tournament; Reese to receive donation
The QCBA will host the 13U end-of-the-year tournament this Friday and Saturday at Legion Field in New Richland.
“This is a big fundraiser for our youth baseball, and we are privileged that the SCYB league that we are part of has continued to ask us to host this tournament for ten years now,” said QCBA spokesman Mark Domeier.
Also, on Friday at 6 p.m., Jeff Reese will be presented with a grant for $2500 from Monsanto for youth baseball at Legion Field.
Items sought for Veterans Memorial
The Ellendale Veterans Memorial Museum will open Thursday at 4 p.m. for people to bring military memorabilia that they would like to display during Ellendale days.
It will be open for display during Ellendale days each day.

Farm & City Days Committee to meet
The New Richland Farm and City Days Committee will hold its 2012 wrap-up meeting Tuesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. at The Willows. The public is invited for any and all input.

Register by Monday for July 29 Norwegian gathering
Descendants of immigrants from the Aurland, Norway area located on the Sognefjord, will gather for the Aurland Stevne Sunday, July 29, at the First Lutheran Church at 602 5th St. South in Ellendale, Minnesota.Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The church service will follow at 9, with coffee, treats and fellowship at 10. Lunch will be served at noon.
At 1:15 p.m., Deb Nelson Gourley, famous author and publisher of My Astri Publishing Company, will speak about the Norwegian books she has authored and published over the years and will have books on hand to purchase. There will also be special Norwegian music. There will be genealogy books available for those who wish to trace their Norwegian ancestry in any area of Norway.
Registration is needed by Monday, July 23rd for the meal count. Cost for the meal is $10 per person (payable at the church). Waseca County Relay For Life Friday
The Waseca County Relay For Life will be held Friday, July 20 at the Waseca County Fairgrounds. The opening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. followed by the survivor lap. The talent contest starts at 7. People will light luminaries at dusk and closing ceremonies are at 6 a.m.

Three area students — Kevin Klocek of Ellendale and Nicole Plotz and Katrina Rogers of New Richland — were named to the dean’s list for spring semester 2012 at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Registrations accepted for Panther Preschool
Registrations are now being taken for the Panther Preschool in Ellendale and New Richland. Panther Preschool is available for area residents who have children ages 3 through 5 (2012-2013 school year). Registration forms can be picked up at both sites in the main offices.
There are several sessions from which to choose. Contact Marilyn Dobberstein at the New Richland High School at 417-2667, if you have further questions or wish to have a registration form sent to you.
