Coach Shawn Larson has been waiting almost all season for the NRHEG High School wrestling team to have everyone healthy.
He's still waiting.
The Panthers endured a tough night last Thursday at Kenyon, where they lost 61-9 to Kenyon-Wanamingo and 54-6 to Goodhue.
"It was a very tough night," said Larson.
The Panthers picked up two wins against KW, a 7-2 decision by Deven Parpart at 139 pounds and a first-period fall by George Roesler at 172.
Also wrestling for NRHEG: Charlie Tufte, 107; Dakota Schlaak, 114; Seth Staloch, 127; Parker Bunn, 133; Reese Routh, 145; Harbor Cromwell, 152; Ryan Schlaak, 160; Wyatt Larson, 189; and Cole Hutchens, 285. The Panthers forfeited two matches.
Routh was the lone Panthers victor against Goodhue, scoring a fall in 5:13 at 145. Also wrestling: Tufte, Dakota Schlaak, Bunn, Parpart, Cromwell, Ryan Schlaak, Roesler, Larson and Hutchens.
"This was a very difficult night for us," said Coach Larson. "Honestly, we are going to work on our health for a week. Hopefully, we can get everyone competing next week for the Section 2A team championships. If we get everything lined up right, we have a chance to win a dual or two."
The Panthers wrestle at Medford Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. NRHEG is seeded fifth, Medford fourth. The winner competes in the section semifinals Saturday at 2 p.m. at top-seeded LCWM. The section championship and state tournament berth will be decided at 3:30. Westfield is seeded second, WEM/JWP third.
