Large crowds lined the streets of downtown Waseca, and later filled the stands at Waseca High School to watch the 34th Annual Waseca Marching Classic parade and field show on Saturday, Sept. 18. Five marching bands competed in the parade this year, and 11 competed in the field show. Unfortunately, due to illness, the NRHEG Marching band was unable to attend this year's performance.
Along with the marching bands, numerous units were featured in this year’s parade, including the Classic Car Cruise, floats from local businesses and organizations, public safety vehicles from Waseca and neighboring towns, grand marshals, and more.
The results of the parade competition are as follows:
Class A - 1st place, Adrian-Ellsworth with a score of 63.2; 2nd, Eagle Grove, score 58.0.
Class AA - 1st, Eastview, 75.6; 2nd, Lakeville South, 72.7; 3rd, Stewartville, 68.2.
Parade Sweepstakes - Eastview; People’s Choice - Lakeville South; Drum Majors - Stewartville; Percussion - Eastview; Horn - Eastview; Guard - Lakeville South.
Field show results:
Class A - 1st, Rochester Lourdes, 65.8; 2nd, Luverne, 58.4; 3rd, Pipestone, 56.5.
Class AA - 1st, Spirit Lake, 73.0; 2nd, Algona, 64.5; 3rd, Andover, 64.3; 4th, Coon Rapids, 62.0;
5th, Hutchinson, 58.9.
Class AAA - 1st, Eastview, 81.2; 2nd, Eden Prairie, 79.5; 3rd, Lakeville South, 77.1.
Field Sweepstakes - Eastview; Drum Majors - Hutchinson - Grace Swaja;

Next year’s Waseca Marching Classic is scheduled for Sept. 17, 2022.
