Did any of you get or give a May Basket on May 1st? Genie did.

Genie gave me a May calendar with Sunday, May 12 outlined in bright yellow colors. In small letters she printed “My Day.” Does that give any of you male readers a reminder of what you are to remember on that day??

Ole came into town on April 27th. He wore clean farmer's britches. His shoes were clean. His winter cap with ear flaps was replaced by a straw hat. He had his first shower this spring under the eaves through this a.m. Ole was in town because he had heard it was town clean up day. Ole is a happy friendly Norwegian feller who just happens to be: “Two french fries short of a Happy Meal.”

A reminder to all my happy fellow Norwegians: “Our day is Friday, May 17, better known as “Syttende Mai” There will be lots of food, including lutefisk, lefse and french fries served at our day on the 17th of May.

Our pair of mallards are back again. He likes to rest on top of the neighbor's house on Marie Avenue early in the morning. (I think it is more than resting as the shingles have patches of white where he rests.) She stays in our backyard 'til he flies in and they take turns eating the small grain food I put out for birds. After they are full, it's time for a nap in the shade between the neighbors house and our house on Burr Oak Drive in Albert Lea.

“Where they spend the rest of the day? I don't know.” The eggs are hatched and the hen and babies head for the lake. At that time, he leaves and joins a bunch of other males on the lake.

The Twins baseball team is having a tough time. Their won-lost percentage is not even close to being acceptable. Looking at it positively their won-lost percentage has no where to go but better!!

I will give the Twins credit for trying to keep their fans interested. For example:

A. They have set aside a section in center field of 12 seats with swivel bucket seats like on a pontoon boat. The price is $100 per seat with a $30 rebate to be used for food and drink. The same group must purchase all 12 seats – payment in advance.

B. A special ticket package to those having a 2024 Minnesota fishing or hunting license. The special ticket package includes a free blaze-orange wool blend Twins cap and a ticket discount.

The Eligible games are: Sunday, April 21; Friday, May 3; Friday, May 24; Saturday, July 20; Sunday, August 4; and Tuesday, September 10. (Contact the Twins if interested.)

Yes, F.R.O.G. out of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church will take a bus leaving from Albert Lea Tuesday afternoon, August 13th to Lutheran night at the Twins. Details coming about June 1st.

That great lady, Jessica, is bragging how good the NRHEG Girls Basketball team was in 1999. For details, Jessica will brag when you pick up your prescription at the Hy-Vee pharmacy in Albert Lea!!
