Who is a confused Republican voting for? Genie and I watched the “State of the Union” message as given by President Biden Thursday evening March 7, 2024. I know that many of his “quips” were actually written into his speech by writers for him.
Even so, my feeling is, “What happened to the Republican Party I used to give my “thumbs up”?? When the party leader lams a veteran (of which I am one) of the U.S.A. as a loser, my thinking changes. My family tree of veterans includes: World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc. My thinking Republican really changed when President Biden announced a deal had been made regarding the border by both the Republican and Democrat parties only to have the Republicans back out at the urge of the former U.S. President til the 2024 election.
I ask those voting Republican, “Is this the party you once knew? If not, vote with your feelings. (Maybe the Republican party will change in 2028 with a new candidate.)
Other items I am finding in disgust with the handling of current events regarding the Republican party with the presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
A. The Supreme Court is the “High Court of the Land.” Why does a member get to stay on the court after admitting his bad behavior?
B. How can campaign donations and campaign funds be used to pay fines of a presidential candidate?
C. Is the purchase of gold sneakers to help a presidential candidate ok?
Apparently, “I am not the only one” wondering about the Republican party.
I refer you to a letter to the editor from Al Arends in the Albert Lea Tribune stating, “Where has the party gone?” This is the question Republicans should be asking ourselves.
(My hope is that the Republican party will select a V.P. Candidate with the backbone of the true Republican party interests.)
In closing, I compare the current Republican party to that old song, “Where have all the flowers gone? Gone to graveyards every one. When will it ever return?”
P.S. I think all you readers have figured out I'm a confused Republican going to vote Democrat!!
