Genie and I were invited to attend the Clarks Grove Area Heritage Society monthly meeting on Thursday, May 11th at 7 p.m., held in the Clarks Grove Museum.
I hadn’t been inside the museum before, and I’ll admin I was impressed. We were given time to look at and remember many of the items on display.
I even saw an old “Breakfast of Champions” Wheaties box featuring the Twins when they won the World Series.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, a short meeting was held, the first in over two years because of COVID.
Dale Peterson was the program entertainment with his singing and playing the harmonica (sing-along was welcome). An interesting item was the age of the harmonica (100 years plus).
The evening concluded with beverage (mainly coffee) and dessert.

The following is a quote from a great lady after celebrating her favorite holiday, namely Mother’s Day: “I’m just gonna look old because I AM OLD – so there!!” Who is that great lady? She is known by many as Genie.
Genie is first class, so I figured I best get a well-known maker-designer of Mother’s Day cards for her on her favorite holiday. In looking at where the Hallmark Cards were made, I saw Vietnam, China, and U.S.A. (Needless to say, “I believe in buying ‘Made in the U.S.A’”).
I know all of you are aware of Ecclesiastes as being a time for everything. Genie decided Mother’s Day was “A time for being away from the stove.” Friday morning breakfast was from McDonald’s, Saturday noon food from Arby’s, Saturday evening take-out Chinese from Hy-Vee.
Sunday A.M. Church, followed by attending the ballet at the new high school in St. Peter, starring our great niece Beatrice Combs. Monday brunch with free pie at Perkins. Monday evening Chinese leftovers. Tuesday was time to return to the stove ‘til a repeat Ecclesiastes!!
The following is the 30th Annual Lutheran Night at the Twins on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, playing the Detroit Tigers. A coach bus leaves from behind Hi-Vee in Albert Lea at 4 p.m. Seating is in the Home Plate Viewing Area directly behind Home Plate. The bus sponsor is Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea.
Deal Or No Deal for prizes on the bus to the game. A Beanie Baby plus coupons for all.
Your name on the scoreboard if your birthday is August 15th. Up to eight of the bus passengers can go out on the field to lead in singing the National Anthem.
The bus is parked nearby with each bus person getting back $10.00 in cash after 50 of the 77 tickets are sold.
Last and probably the most important is “Hot Dogs” for $1.00 at the game.
Reservations with $60 payment in advance – no refunds – to hold a seat.
For reservations call: Bob & Genie Hanson at 507-373-8655 or Wayne & Bev Indrelie at 507-826-3267.
P.S.: As you’re getting on the bus, Wayne or Bob will tell you the score of the game before it starts.
Short Shorts
A. The Swim Suit Lady on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” is an octogenarian!
B. Sad to say, but nobody caught a fish in the newly created Chain of Lakes between Hartland and New Richland just in time for the Minnesota Fishing Opener.
