It is time for another running-of-the-words column. Fact or fiction, you decide.

There are 1,781 townships in Minnesota. It seems the city of Albert Lea has dictated annexation of property now part of Bancroft Township. I wonder how the about 914,000 residents of the 1,781 Minnesota townships feel about this? So far two officer residents of Bancroft Township have expressed their thoughts in the Albert Lea Tribune.

Quote of the upcoming Presidential election: “Money will buy a lot of things, but not the DFL nomination for President,” – Michael Bloomberg.

Kudos to Larry Otto of Ellendale for being endorsed for the Minnesota State office of Chaplain of the American Legion.

There are 2,342 Veterans in Freeborn County and as a Korean vet, I’m proud to be one of them.

For the first time in my life, I didn’t need my fishing license for ice fishing, 2019-20. Three times a trip was planned to Leech Lake. One time we almost left as we were scheduled to leave at high noon, but were forced to cancel at 9 a.m. All three cancellations were weather related.

It used to be the first day of spring was March 21. Then it got changed to March 20. This year, the first day of spring was March 19. The change of being earlier must be due to global warming.

At the coffee hour on Sunday at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, Diane Wangen announced, “The sap is running.” When we got home, Genie asked me if I had any idea who the sap was. So far neither Genie nor I have enough nerve to ask her what candidate she was referring to.

In stopping at one of our favorite fattening eating places in Albert Lea, we were greeted by two new faces, Shay and Gina. They explained why they were filling in at the DQ in Albert Lea. Genie and I agreed it worked both ways as they were very nice to us even though they were not aware of “Minnesota Nice.” (They were from the DQ in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.)

If you want to watch a movie on TV, Genie and I highly recommend channel 28, Lifetime. You have plenty of time to make popcorn, go to the bathroom, do the newspaper puzzles, make the telephone calls, whatever you can do in the 20 different commercials breaks that cause a one-hour show to last two hours.

What is the definition of a blizzard?

1. A blizzard is something that usually happens at every Minnesota boys’ high school state basketball tournament.

2. When I can’t see the front of the neighbor Arlene’s garage and she can’t see the back of mine.

3. It’s lots of enjoyable calories causing an additional amount of weight one carries around.

4. It’s when “Minnesota Nice” is recognized as part and parcel of a six-inch or more snow.
