Skroch defeats Swearingen in Ellendale

Elected to the NRHEG School Board Tuesday were Rick Schultz, 1,343 votes; Travis Routh, 1,052; JoAnn (Hagen) Maloney, 935; and Mark Tollefson, 924. The other candidates and their vote totals: Karen Flatness, 899; John Harrington, 755; Rich Mueller, 509.

Jim Lutgens and Amy Ihrke were elected to the New Richland City Council. Lutgens, a first-time candidate, garnered 244 votes while Ihrke, a two-term incumbent, totaled 236. Sarah (Peterson) Sundve received 187 votes. Incumbent Mayor Christine Gislason, running unopposed, was reelected with 346 votes.

At Ellendale, Mark Skroch was elected Mayor with 171 votes, ousting incumbent Roger Swearingen, who had 114. The two open seats on the Ellendale City Council went to Stephanie Lageson Kibler and Scott Groth with 169 and 168, respectively. Steve Hackett got 101 votes, Jeff Howe 63.

In Hartland, Trent Wangen and Laura Stene captured the two open city council seats with 92 and 70 votes, respectively. Sandra R. Meyer received 46 votes and there were 21 write-ins. All 71 votes for Hartland Mayor were write-ins because no one ran for the office.

In Geneva, Jim Beenken received 177 votes and Richard Weckwerth 126 for two open city council seats. There were 49 write-in votes.

Bruce Hansen was elected Clarks Grove Mayor with 165 votes. Alex Pobanz had 108. Elected to Clarks Grove City Council were Bill Zezulka, 160, and Rob Jensen, 147. Brian LeBrun had 137 votes.
