Waseca Soil and Water Conservation District, a local unit of government, has an open position for a supervisor. This is an appointed position until the next general election is held in November, 2014.

This is an opportunity for a citizen interested in natural resource conservation and improvement of our water quality to make a difference in our community’s future.

The SWCD is governed by five locally elected supervisors who hold monthly public meetings.

Waseca SWCD works in partnership with federal, state, and local governments to conserve and manage land and water resources across the county.

Each of the five supervisors must live in designated districts in the county.  This District 3 appointment will be filled by a resident of any one of three townships: Byron, Otisco or New Richland which includes the City of New Richland or Otisco.

Soil and water conservation districts across the state were formed in the 1940s in response to national concern over floods, erosion, and the dust storms of the 1930s. Waseca SWCD was formed in 1948.

For more information please contact one of the current Waseca Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisiors: Chair Robert Drager, 507-462-3627; Vice Chair Wayne Cords, 507-835-1564 or Treasurer Larry Hagen 507-234-6165.
