Saturday, April 19 is the day to once again help fight cancer in Geneva.

In January, Whitey Hagen was proud to deliver $100,000 to the Eagles Cancer Telethon in Rochester on behalf of the great people in our area who donated and supported the many cancer fundraising events held here over the past year.

The funds are raised through many different efforts and activities including the yearly cancer auction, the Wild Game Feed and gun raffle, the 51" Plasma HDV Blu-Ray player raffle, along with the "Hot Looks For A Cure" calendar. Don’t forget those great summer events including the Geneva Cancer Golf Outing, the Geneva Cancer Motorcycle Run, as well as the Matt Felt/Dillon Gordon Motorcycle Run. This past year also provided some "hair raising" events including one at the Bend in the Road, as well as money raised from Locks of Love.

And don’t forget the money donated each year to the Geneva Cancer fundraising totals from the Maple Island Park Association bingo nights, along with many other donations which this past year included a 1942 "M" Farmall tractor.

If you were out of town, or just weren't able to attend the cancer auctions in January, here is your opportunity to come to Geneva and attend the Spring Cancer Auction. After the large Geneva Cancer Auction has concluded, there are usually leftover things forgotten in the corners, or things there just wasn't time to put up for bid, so a spring clean-up sale is planned.

This year that mini cancer auction will be held on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 2 p.m..

As has been the practice over the years, food donations are accepted that day to help make the auction even sweeter. Many cancer fundraising supporters regularly donate fresh baked goodies you would not want to miss out on.

Cancer doesn't quit, and the day provides time to share new ideas about how cancer fundraising events might become bigger or better. The spring auction also provides a time to pick up a bargain or two.
