On May 7, 2011 the world lost a wonderful man. Dale was a retired third generation farmer, lifelong resident of New Richland, who raised hogs, loved his chickens, took great pride in his perfect fields. Dale was born to Seth and Sara Winegar on November 15, 1923. He was preceded in death by Catherine Doyle Winegar after 38 years of marriage.
An avid hunter and fisherman his whole life, Dale was also a prolific gardener and a bird-watcher. He was a Texas Hold ‘Em champ, and there was no better entertainment than watching a good Twins, Vikings, or New Richland Cardinals game.
Dale was unassuming and strong-willed; he survived 5 different cancers. He taught us to accept fate with good humor and without complaint. There is an empty chair at the farmers’ table of wisdom at Blondie’s café.
He is survived by his wife, Verona Tufte Winegar; they married on September 29, 1990.

Lacinda "Cindy" M. Meyman, 54, of Owatonna, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House, where she received such wonderful care after courageously fighting a cancerous brain tumor since 2009.
She was born July 15, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minnesota; the daughter of W. Manfred and Shirley (Martin) Jensen.
A special “thank you” is given to Mike Ryan, Cindy’s very special friend, who moved in to take care of her so she could spend this last year and six months in her own home.
As a baby, she lived by Freeborn, MN and later moved near Hartland. Later, the family moved to rural Ellendale. Cindy attended grade school in Freeborn, Hartland, Geneva, and Ellendale. After graduating from Ellendale High School in 1974, she went on to graduate from Austin Junior College. She attended Mankato State after which she started working in Owatonna for Federated Insurance Company in June 1977, where she was still employed. On February 6, 1982, Cindy was married to James Meyman at the Clarks Grove Baptist Church. They were later divorced.

Funeral services for Adlyn Levina Nelson, age 91, of New Richland will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Adlyn died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the New Richland Care Center.
Adlyn Levina Nelson was born on January 3, 1920 to Theodore and Minnie (Haugen) Lee in Hartland, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended New Richland High School, graduating in 1937. Adlyn worked for E.F. Johnson Co. from 1942-1945. On May 31, 1952 she was united in marriage to Arthur J. Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church. Adlyn worked as an insurance secretary for 30 years at several agencies including, O.S. Martinson, Nelson Insurance Agency and New Richland Insurance. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. Adlyn was always a friendly and happy person who enjoyed people. Blessed be her memory.

John M. Goldsberry, 82, passed away on April 9, 2011. A visitation was held Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. and a Memorial Service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, ID.
He was born in the town of Geneva, MN to Larry and Sarah Helen Goldsberry. While there he farmed and also worked for IBM in Rochester, MN. Later moving to Oregon he worked for Trailways Bus Lines in Oregon and Boise and was a messenger for Idaho First National Bank in Boise until his retirement.
Being an avid reader he was well versed in many subjects. He was a kind and gentle man and loved his children and always looked forward to the get togethers with them. He liked country music and playing the organ. The highlight of his day was to gather at the mall for the coffee hour with his friends.

Leslie Knudsen, 93, died on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Pathstone Living on Sibley Park in Mankato.
He was born October 20, 1917 in Geneva, MN the son of Carl and Sofie (Johansen) Knudsen. He attended school in Geneva and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1934. He was united in marraige to Mildred Anderson on August 31, 1940. He was a veteran of WWII.
Leslie worked in the grocery business, road construction, and the greenhouse/floral business. He also operated a root beer stand, sold insurance, and was a building supervisor. After retirement, he worked as a courier for travel agencies.
His hobbies and interests included gardening, music, sports, scouting, stamp collecting and was a volunteer greeter at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. He was recognized in a New York Times article as the “Mayor of the Mall.”
He is survived by his children Stephen (Gail) Knudsen, Bella Vista, AR; Frederick (Eileen) Knudsen, Owatonna; Jane (Philip) Wold, Mankato; and Juliann Knudsen, Eden Prairie; six grandchldren and 11 great-grandchikdren.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife Mildred (2005); and siblings Ege Knudsen, Luella Gurvin and Sonja Olson.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Geneva Cemetery with Rev. Carrie McElfresh officiating. The Cremation Society of Minnesota is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN.
